Arguably the most recognized artist in Christian worship music, Chris Tomlin, is releasing his 12th studio album, Holy Roar on October 26. Pre-orders are already being taken and you can get your today too (click here).
Well known for his music (How Great Is Our God, Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone), Our God, Whom Shall I Fear, and too many others to name in this brief space), Tomlin always releases songs that the Church can use for worship. While many other artists have released songs that are great in content but the style is not reflective of corporate worship, Chris has never left his roots of leading worship–this album is no exception!
This album seems to be a follow-up to the book
by the same title that Chris Tomlin wrote with his pastor, Darren Whitehead (Church Of The City). As a side note-go buy the book too-it will forever change your thoughts about worship and worship leading. I was first introduced to these ideas when I heard Whitehead speak at the WorshipTogether Conference 2017, and I’ve since read the book and done a study of it with members of our congregation. It has transformed our thinking as a team.
Holy Roar is Tomlin at his best bringing both high energy worship songs (such as the title track) and many meditative ballads such as “Resurrection Power” (sure to be an Easter 2019 mainstay-although it would be fitting for any Sunday) and “Satisfied.”
The album also features Nicole Serrano (The Voice, season 4) and Pat Barrett (writer of Good, Good Father)on I Stand In Awe and How Sweet it is respectively. This album will prove once again to be an album that many of us will sing and that most of us will and can use to worship Jesus when it comes out later this month!
